Society Fundraising

Dear Washington Old Grads,

For the first time in 30 years, the West Point Society of Washington is embarking on an exciting new chapter that will shape our Society’s future and strengthen the Long Gray Line in unprecedented ways. As a valued member of our community, we are asking for your support in building an operational fund that will stabilize and sustain our activities for years to come.

Our request is simple: consider donating the equivalent of just one cup of coffee a week—$5. Over the course of a month, that’s a $20 contribution from you. And here’s the best part: many employers, including industry leaders in our area, offer matching gift programs that could double your impact. Your $20 could quickly become $40, thanks to support from your company’s non-profit matching program. Imagine the difference this could make for our Society and the Long Gray Line. Your contribution is not just a number, it's a powerful force for change.

The West Point Society of Washington is committed to connecting graduates in the Pacific Northwest to the community and to the Academy. Our longstanding traditions, like Founders’ Day, Army/Navy watch parties, and professional networking events, are just the beginning. With your help, we can expand our reach and deepen our impact meaningfully.

With Joint Base Lewis-McChord nearby and industry giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Starbucks leading the way, we have a unique opportunity. This is a chance for us, as a community, to ensure our fellow graduates are not only connected but thriving. Our mission is to create a place where transitioning from military service is not the end, but the start of something new. Your involvement in this unique opportunity is crucial and greatly appreciated.

We’re also committed to shaping the future of the Long Gray Line. By partnering with the West Point Parents’ Club and the Field Force, we’re helping high-achieving students, particularly those focused on STEM careers, pursue their dreams of attending the Academy. Our Summer Leader Experience (SLE) Scholarship opens doors for rising high school seniors whose travel costs may otherwise hold them back. Your support is not just a donation; it's a direct involvement in shaping the future of our community and the lives of these students.

Our commitment to leadership development extends beyond West Point’s gates. Seattle’s thriving tech industry offers cadets opportunities for real-world experience through Academic Individual Advanced Development (AIAD). A $5,000 investment could allow cadets to spend their summer working alongside industry leaders, shaping their future and expanding their impact on the world.

To achieve these goals, we need your help. Your donation supports essential operating costs—event deposits, mailings, website maintenance, and banking fees—that keep the West Point Society of Washington running smoothly. This foundation allows us to grow and serve our community even more powerfully.

Your gift is more than a donation; it’s an investment in the Long Gray Line and the future of leadership. As a 501(c)(3) organization, your contribution is tax-deductible, and with many local employers offering matching programs, you can effortlessly double your impact. If your company uses a donation platform such as Yourcause, Benevity, Cybergrants, or NPOconnect, please consider adding our society as a donation option, or contact us if you think there may be other fundraising opportunities.

Please join us in this mission. A cup of coffee a week—just $5—through your workplace’s non-profit matching portal, can help ensure that the Long Gray Line remains strong in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Visit westpointsocietyofwashington.org to donate today and be part of this extraordinary journey.

Together, we will strengthen the Long Gray Line.

Grip hands,

Jeff Powell, President, West Point Society of Washington
